Hand drawn, painted and illustrated honey bee external anatomy printables/wall art.

With a background in both art and science, I strive to paint with as much detail and realistic representation as possible, to allow you and your learner(s) to dive in and truly understand and appreciate structure and function.

When we understand the purpose of structures in serving particular functions, we appreciate and learn deeply.  We are not just memorizing and labeling parts, but truly understanding these parts and their significance, which leads to a rich learning experience with retention of material.

Digital PDF file for downloading and printing:

Includes:

5 pages:

-2 honey bee external anatomy wall art pages.  1 bee anatomy in landscape orientation and 1 bee anatomy with close up details page in portrait orientation.

-2 honey bee external anatomy pages with blank spaces for labeling parts. 1 with close up details and 1 without (both have answer key at the bottom of the page).

-1 honey bee coloring page for coloring or adding in your own labeling.

Some suggestions for use of the 5 included pages:

1) Use the labeled/detailed views honey bee anatomy poster/wall art to decorate your room or classroom or use it as a reference page for students.

2) For the blank spaces honey bee anatomy printable with close-up, detailed views of anatomy: laminate or place in a protective sheet or under clear dry erase board and have your child or students label the parts of the honey bee.  (Answers are on the bottom of the page and can be used to check work or covered if needed.)

3) Use the simple honey bee printable (without closeups) as an introduction anatomy labeling activity, then add in the detailed views printable after discussing the structure and function of bee anatomy to better understand the honey bee's amazing anatomy.

4) Use the labeled landscape oriented diagram as a poster/wall art to decorate your room/classroom or use it as a reference page.

5) Print the coloring page on copy paper to color with markers, crayons, oil pastels or colored pencils.  Print on card stock to paint with watercolors or other paints.  Can extend activity by having your child draw in their own anatomy labels.

(If interested in doing an bee unit study, these printables will be available as part of an upcoming Honey Bee Unit Study bundle.)
